Church of St. Anthony the Hermit

  • Construction date: Built in the 17th century.
  • Restoration: Reconstructed in the late 20th century.
  • Celebration: On the last Saturday of August, a Holy Mass commemorating the reconstruction is celebrated, drawing many people from Croatia and abroad.
  • Legend: According to the legend, besides being a church, St. Anthony”s church also served as one of the fortifications, guarding the entrance to the port of Bastia, as it was known in the past.

God, You granted St. Anthony the Abbot the grace to serve You through a life of solitude in the desert. Through his intercession, grant us the renunciation of ourselves and the love of You above all. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son lives and reigns with You forever and ever. Amen.
