Church of St. Vitus with cemetery

  • Historical Role: The site of St. Vitus’ Church once served as a quarantine station, requiring a 40-day isolation period before entering the town, especially during Venetian rule.
  • Construction: Built in the 15th century.
  • Spiritual Function: People prayed to St. Vitus to protect them from illnesses, notably the plague, so that they could enter the town. Those who passed away were buried immediately in the cemetery next to the church.

Holy Mass

no longer celebrated in the church.

St. Vitus, a glorious martyr who bore witness to your faith in Jesus Christ by sacrificing your own life, we confidently turn to you. Protect and defend our youth so that they may be the hope of a better future. Be close to older people, who may be teachers of life. Watch over our town and all its inhabitants so that, faithful to the Christian tradition, they may continue living the faith of their ancestors. Help us to follow your virtues and remain steadfast in faith, hope, and Christian love. Strengthen us to follow Christ on His way on the cross and persevere in goodness throughout our lives so that one day, we may enjoy the Heavenly Kingdom with you and all the saints. Amen.
